MONSOON – The Two Faces of
Indra
(English, Hindi / 23
min / Rs.500)
Director : Aparajita Gogoi and Saurabh Rawla
Production Co. : Development Alternatives
|
Fifty years of independence and seventy percent of
India agriculture still depends on the monsoon rains.
Indian agriculture is rain-fed and thus those multitudes of
farmers, marginal and not-so-marginal, all depend on
the summer showers. Food production continues to be
at the mercy of the vagaries of the monsoon rain. A
generous monsoon leads to devastating floods and a
reticent monsoon to dry spells,
drought, famine and starvation. The film concludes on the
note that water harvesting can spell an end to the woes
|
|
of the farmer caused by an unreliable and
unpredictable monsoon.
Aviation
And Environment
(English / 24 min. / Rs.450 )
Director : Aparajita Gogoi
Production Co. : Development Alternatives
|
Aviation and environment are very closely related. A
deteriorating environment has enormous implications on
aviation
activities. This film focuses on the fact that
degradation of environment,
like proliferation of abattoirs
in the area close to the airports, can
lead to bird hits. It
also deals with the implications of human habitation
close
to the airport boundaries, which is a safety hazard to
aviation.
TARACrete : A

This film is about
the existing roofing gap in India and
the resulting need for affordable
and quality roofing
material. The MCR technology and TARAcrete tiles are
projected as an answer to these needs. It also explains
in brief the
process of manufacturing TARACrete tiles
and the economics of setting up
an MCR enterprise
selling these tiles.
