The Poorest Areas Civil Society Programme
(PACS) of the UK Government’s Department for International
Development (DFID) is jointly managed by Development
Alternatives and PriceWaterhouse Coopers. PACS is one of
DFID’s largest initiatives aimed at making small grants to
NGOs, Community Based Organisations. Its purpose is to build
up the capacity of civil society to leverage national and
local resources for the benefit of communities. This project,
based on a 7-year strategic partnership with DFID has already
shown pathbreaking results and has become a benchmark for
large scale donor funds to be channeled effectively to large
numbers of small field level activities
The PACS programme is, as for any other
strategic alliance, managed by DA and PWC with a large degree
of autonomy. This is made possible by the establishment of
stringent mechanisms to ensure the highest possible quality in
the selection, conduct and monitoring of projects |
