Development
Alternatives has a long association with Ministry of
Environment and Forests, Govt. of India. DA enjoys a close
working relationship with the MoEF in advising, reviewing and
negotiating various strategic issues concerning sustainable
development, environmental impact assessment, environmental
information systems, biodiversity conservation, climate change
and environmental policies at national, sub-regional and
global levels.
Specific
projects sponsored by MoEF include pioneering the design of
Sustainable Development Network Program, Capacity building of
state governments on state of the environment reporting, Clean
technology promotion, Bundling of carbon emissions to promote
CDM in small scale industries. MoEF has also assisted DA in
carrying out environmental education programs and conducting
various awareness raising events. DA has received continued
support from MOEF in carrying out multi-stakeholder
consultations for improved environmental and occupational
health standards in some sectors such as lead acid battery
manufacturing. |
