l
Biomass-based energy generation under the Village Energy Security Programme, funded by the Department of Science and Technology for village Radhapur, the gasefier and engine for electricity generation have been commissioned with successful test runs

l Under the REZ, Datia programme, Punjab National Bank has tied up for training of ten women for entrepreneurship and providing loans for enterprise

l In the Sustainable Community Development Project, sponsered by ACC, the work on community infrastructure development has started in Wadi town and adjoining villages. Roads, community toilets, drains work are under progress

l Community led Assessment, Awareness, Advocacy and Action Programme for Environment Protection and Carbon Neutrality will be initiated by Development Alternatives in Himachal Pradesh

TARA Livelihood Academy (TLA)

l The TARA Livelihood Academy lauched its new training product on ‘Green Buildings: Designing a Sustainable Future’ from June 30 to July 2, 2009 in New Delhi. Professor Ashok Lal and Sunil Maithal, experts from the field, also added value to the training programme
 

 
 

Innovation Services Branch (ISB)

 
 


l DA is working with ACC and Ambuja Cement to look at creating systems for training, design and certification for building artisans. This partnership is also looking at designing a model for fast delivery of prefabricated building products in rural families with low and irregular incomes

l DA has recently concluded the ‘Comprehension and Sensitisation Workshop on Knowledge Dialogue’ under the Swiss Development Corporation (SDC) – Sustainable Civil Society Initiatives project. This workshop has provided a base for engaging with local communities on issues of climate change and processes have been set up for juxtaposing scientific knowledge with the communities’ traditional knowledge base

l TARAhaat has started its operation in Rajasthan with signing of the first franchisee at Jaipur

l A new phase of TARA Akshar programme was rolled out in June 2009 with the Sehgal Foundation in Mewat region under the Connect for Change programme

l The 4th Management Committee Meeting of Radio Bundelkhand was held on June 19, 2009. All the members of the Management Committee participated in the programme
