Development Solutions Branch (DSB)

 
 
l DA in collaboration with the Zila Panchayat initiated watershed planning in 5500 hectare area of the Datia district, covering eight Micro Watersheds.

l The field survey towards Access to Entitlement Programme in 300 villages was conducted with field partners in the Tikamgarh District.

l The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and a team from Doordarshan Lucknow, visited the field areas in the horticulture plantation of the Sahariya community, facilitated by DA, to shoot success stories.
 

 

 

TARA Livelihood Academy (TLA)

 
 


l
TLA conducted training on Livelihood Security Enhancement and Income Generation Activities from 1-10 February 2011 at TARAgram, Orchha (MP) for support organisations and Partner NGO functionaries under Uttar Pradesh Participatory Forest Management and Poverty Alleviation Project funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

l TLA conducted a scholarship exam on 30 January 2011 at TARAgram, Pahuj. Around 178 participants appeared in the said examination.
 

 
 

Innovation Systems Branch (ISB)

 
 


l DA discussed the roadmap for operationalising the National Tri-state-Chambal Sanctuary Management and Coordination Committee (NTRIS-CASMACC) during the first meeting of the National Steering Committee in Delhi on 21 February 2011. DA will be responsible for the development, monitoring and evaluation of the Tri-State Management Plan for recovery of Gharials (alligators) as per the decisions taken.

l DA attended a conference organised by Climate Action Network South Asia in Kathmandu, Nepal on financing Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation from 1-2 April 2011. The conference focused on various aspects of climate finance and more particularly on technology transfer.

l DA organised a workshop with the Bundelkhand Vikas Manch partners on 19 February 2011 to identify the key issues and subsequent actions in the arena of National Resources Management.

l Under the Department of Science and Technology (DST) project, a level one training has started for women in the habitat services at TARAgram Orchha. Approximately 20 women from village Amba Tai have been taught to manufacture different kinds of habitat products.

TARA Paper
l The TARA handmade recycled paper products were greatly appreciated during the Annual horticulture exhibition organised by the Delhi Agri-horticultural Society on 26 and 27th February 2011. Tara Paper participated in the exhibition.

TARAhaat
l
All three validation programmes of TARA Akshar+ with the Human Resource Development Ministry, GoI, have been successfully completed. The programme has made 120 women literate at three locations in Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttarakhand.
 

 
  Communication Solutions Branch (CSB)  
 


l
The Communication Solutions Branch, along with TARA Machines represented The DA Group in the inaugural edition of the Chief Minster of Madhya Pradesh’ Rural Housing Mission on 22 February 2011. Shri Parasuram, Additional Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh applauded DA and the TARAgram Resource Centre, Orchha for the initiative in the Rural Housing sector during the session. The event was followed by technology exhibition, where different technologies were demonstrated by different groups.

l The DA Group participated in a Poverty Environment Partnership (PEP) meeting at Vienna, Austria from 16-18 February, 2011. One of the main focus points of the discussion was scalable local solutions and measures to upscale it in the developing countries with specific customisation. The next PEP meeting will be held in India in February 2012.
