NABARD -TDF-Wadi

  • A one-day training-cum-workshop on soil and water conservation was organised for the Sahariya community on 27 August 2012, in which 32 participants from Bajna, Sahariya families attended the programme.

Under Agri Business Development Services

  • Ten more farmers have been registered under Agri BDS membership, taking the total number of registration to 370.

ICRISAT-Watershed

  • A total of 86 solar lanterns were distributed among the farming community of watershed area from Deloitte Co. Lucknow (under the clean technology initiative)
 

 

Technology and Action for Rural Advancement (TARA)

 
 

SPEED

  • SPEED Partner Coordinating Meeting was held in Hyderabad on 9 August 2012. Various partners provided updates and also finalised their plan of action till October 2012.

  • Under ESCO Engagement Process, meetings were conducted with First ESCO, Greenfields and Telesolar. Details of respective clusters Chattarpur, Kesla and Vaishali were shared with them. First ESCO has visited the sites with SPEED team and RF team to Chattarpur.

  • Telesolar visited SPEED team in Delhi and has finalised four sites in Vaishali cluster. Pre-feasibility reports (PFRs) for these sites are under process.

  • A meeting was conducted on policy and regulatory component of SPEED project with Prayas at DAWHQ on 23 August 2012. The team from Prayas updated SPEED over various studies and research conducted by them in Rural Energy and Decentralised Distributed Generation field and shared their findings and recommendations.

  • On SPEED Capacity Building Modules, TLA and ISB have been working in coordination and have prepared the first cut database on the two major technologies, solar and biomass for Training and Capacity Building of Operators and Managers.

TARA Livelihood Academy

  • Training on Livelihood Security Enhancement, Income Generation Activities and SHG formation took place on 22-31 August 2012 under the JICA project of UP Forest department.
 
 

Innovation Systems Branch (ISB)

 
 
  • The Bundelkhand Knowledge Platform Workshop was conducted on 14 August 2012 under the SDC-DA ‘Climate Resilient Development’ Project on ‘Water Availability and Accesibility: Undersanding the Significance of Aquifers and Energy in Water Management’ at TARAgram Orchha.
  • An inception and training workshop for preparation of South Asia Environment Outlook 2013 was conducted from 28 to 30 August 2012 in Kathmandu.

  • The Ministry of Environment and Forests released the ‘Report to the People on Environment and Forest 2010-2011’, prepared by the Innovation Systems Branch, Development Alternatives. The same can be accessed on the MoEF website.
 
 

Communication Solutions Branch (CSB)

 
 
  • TARA Akshar project with READ India in Geejgarh, Rajasthan was completed successfully. 119 women were made literate as a result of this project.
