Our Green Building

Green solutions for green buildings

The Development Alternatives World Headquarters, located in New Delhi, is one of the first buildings in India that aims at zero emissions. The building is described as a living ecosystem: a fine balance between both natural and man-made processes using environment-friendly energy, resource and energy efficient building materials and water management methods for conservation of water. Its construction has involved a wide range of resource-saving strategies, ranging from the use of eco-materials to rainwater harvesting and natural lighting.

Another unique feature of this building is the use of hybrid air-conditioning, which cuts down the use of energy and water up to 40 Per cent. A new concept called Indoor climate control has been used, which allows the temperature inside the office to remain around 18 degrees in winter and 28 degrees during summer. All employees have agreed to it, as the quantum of energy saved is enormous.

"I hope there will be several such structures using alternative eco-friendly methods and technology which will not only become the pride of the organisation and the city, but indeed of the nation in a meaningful way," she said.
