The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) was the original promoter of Development Alternatives, providing the first project grant received by DA in 1983.  Since then, many projects have been shared by the two organizations, ranging from the writing of several policy documents of UNEP such as an analysis of the economics of ozone depleting substances in preparation for the Montreal Protocol, various GEO reports, membership of UNEP’s Asia and Pacific Ministerial Policy Group and youth programmes

The two-way interchange of knowledge, views and resources between UNEP and DA is an excellent example of a strategic partnership that brings together a major intergovernmental agency and a national-level civil society organization
