GRASSROOTS INITIATIVE

Smart Procurement: Going Green in India is an initiative by Indian Railways to adopt energy-efficient technology of lightning system. To address this challenge, compact fluorescent light (CFLs) were introduced replacing the less efficient incandescent bulbs (ICLs). The procurement of CFLs was done in a free and fair manner through release of tender. The cost of supplying CFLs, was recovered through the sale of certified emission reduction (CERs) by registering under UNFCCC as a clean development mechanism project. Read More
