l
CLAP for Himachal rolled out in two new districts in Himachal Pradesh viz. Mandi and Hamirpur, with field validation of potential implementation partners and an orientation workshop - each held in both the districts

l A day long workshop was conducted on March 24, 2010 on "Converging PRI and climate change" among 25 Sarpanchs and Sachivs from Niwari Block, in Bundelkhand.

l Crop Day event held at Gopalpura and Bhojla in Jhansi District on March 6 to celebrate high yielding wheat crop on select fields of farmers being trained under the Sustainable Civil Society Initiative supported by SDC  

l A stakeholder workshop at Rural Entrepreneurship Zone, Datia in Madhya Pradesh was held on March 27 on  "Enabling Green Construction"

l Joint meeting by CEO, Niwari and DA on Water and Sanitation programme on March 24

TARA Livelihood Academy (TLA)
l A four day training workshop for the non-executives of NTPC was conducted, March 22-26, at the Power Management Institute of NTPC in Noida

l The following training programmes were conducted at TARagram Orchha:
One day Community Awareness Programme on Water and Sanitation at village Rajpura: March 5
Crop Day (Wheat) & Farmer - Scientist Discussion: March 6
Training on Participatory Rural Appraisal & Decentralized Planning: March 11-12
One day Orientation Programme of Panchayat Members on Climate Change: March 24

l Development Alternatives participated in a half day knowledge sharing workshop was organised by WWF on March 16 in New Delhi. The workshop aimed at providing a platform for discussion of the approaches, methodologies and tools used by different organisations and institutions in this arena in conducting vulnerability and adaptation assessments in states like Madhya Pradesh.

l
TARA Ganit, the new numeracy training module for rural people has been rolled out at two locations in Bundelkhand region.

l TARA Akshar, under Connect for Change project has been extended for another year. The project will be implemented in the Mewat region of Haryana with Sehgal foundation.

l DA celebrated the "World Water Day" at Rajpura in the Jhansi district in Bundelkhand on March 21, 2010. Around 500 people, including women, children and youth participated in the programme. The event aimed at creating awareness on the importance of clean drinking water and sanitation. Several events, including a quiz session and a drawing competition were organised to generate awareness on the same. The enthusiastic participation of the local community in the quiz and the drawing competition made the event a grand success and also demonstrated that the local people had understood the importance of clean dinking water and sanitation. The event also promoted Bundelkhandi folk theatre as a play was performed on the theme.
