l An MoU has been signed between ICRISAT and DA on watershed development in Bundelkhand l On Republic Day, January 26, 2009, Development Alternatives in collaboration with Scatec Solar of Norway, established its first community based Solar Power Plant in Rampura village, Uttar Pradesh TARA Livelihood Academy (TLA) l An MoU has been signed between the Government of Uttar Pradesh and TARA Livelihood Academy and a pilot project consisting of eight programmes on training of the youth of BPL families has been initiated under the Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY) scheme. An integrated package of life skills training and any skill that will make the youth employable has been developed. To begin with, training for careers as security guards, hospitality staff and office peons will be imparted.l A skill mapping study conducted for the International Labour Organisation on the Firozabad Glass Industry was undertaken and the survey completed. The draft of the report is being finalised. A stakeholders’ meeting will be organised at Firozabad in the second week of March 2009l A 5-day training programme on Development Management was conducted for the Aravalli Institute of\ Management, Jodhpur, at TARAgram, Orchha on January 4-10, 2009. A training programme on Monitoring and Evaluation (MEAL) was conducted again at TARAgram, Orchha on January 22-24, 2009.SCDP WADI l On February 11, 2009 the Chief Executive officer of Zilla Parishad Gulbarga called a meeting to discuss the Sustainable Community Development Programme (SCDP) and for linkage with Government programmes. It was decided to contribute funds for toilets, trainings, plantation drives, etc. A 25-member team visited the DA office on February 25 to study the progress of the Bio Sand Filter (BSF), cook stoves training programmes, etc. |
