CDM Workshop in Jaipur

             Furthering its work towards mitigation of global warming, Development Alternatives organised a two-day seminar on Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) on 22nd and 23rd September, 2005, in Jaipur. The aim of the seminar was to spread awareness among various stakeholders about the modalities and procedures of CDM. Apart from project developers, the seminar saw representation from both the government and the industry. Mr. Gajendra Singh, Minister of State for Energy was the chief guest for the occasion. He encouraged the participants to take advantage of CDM which, besides reducing greenhouses gas emissions causing global warming , also provides monetary benefits to the project developers and helps in sustainable development of the country. The seminar was organised in association with the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation (RREC) with support from Institute of Global Environment Strategies (IGES), Japan.

Poorest Areas Civil Society (PACS) Programme

        The State consultations on “Empowering Livelihoods – State Policy, Private Initiatives and Civil Society Action” were completed in all PACS states. The preparation for The National Conference on “Empowering Livelihoods – State Policy, Private Initiatives and Civil Society Action” schedule for October 24-26, 2005 is in full swing.

      The ODSA Core Group (MCG) meeting was held on 14th September at DA headquarters to step in the process of operationalizing the OD self assessment process in the PACS programme.

      The Resource organizations quarterly review meeting took place on 15th and 16th September 2005 at Essex farms, New Delhi.  This was attended by all the support organizations with over seventy five consultants in attendance. 

            The Disability meeting was also organized by PACS on 20th September 2005 in New Delhi.

 

TARAhaat

        ◘  Under the MSUP programme the number of female students stands at 725 and Masters Trainers at 40. Around 121 female students were registered in the month of September. 
 
 Under the USHA programme, TARA Kendra at Taricher has registered 15 students in a single batch.
 
 A new franchised Kendra was inaugurated at Bhawigarh on 29th September, 2005.
