Job description

    The Policy Research and Planning domain, DA is looking for a Consultant – Climate Change to join the team on a short-term contract. You would work directly with the Team Lead, Policy Research and Planning Domain and support the overall development of the sustainable finance programme across advisory on policy research and advocacy, partnership development, capacity building and knowledge management, pertaining to Climate change policy.

    Scope of Work

    • Identify key impact areas to work on climate change in India, related policies to influence and actors to mobilise, and develop policy papers as required.
    • Building a case for India’s participation in the UNFCCC COP 29 in 2024, basis COP 28 in 2023, and support with G20 interventions as they emerge
    • Develop and manage effective partnerships with government and civil society organisations to mobilise resources for climate change adaptation and mitigation, transition financing, etc.
    • Liaison with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and/or relevant State Government Departments, private investors and climate financing actors at the national level, as well as think tanks, coalitions and networks at the international level.
    • Support the ongoing projects on climate change and sustainable financing with advocacy, knowledge, outreach and other support, as per need.
    • Any other activity as required

    Work Experince 

    The candidate should possess: -

    • Minimum 10 years (with Master's degree) or 12 years (with a Bachelor’s degree) of progressive relevant policy research and advocacy experience in climate change policy, energy transition, adaptation financing, carbon credits, green budgeting or relatable topics.
    • Demonstrated experience of leading projects/liaising with Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and/or relevant State Government Departments, private investors and climate financing actors at national level, as well as think-tanks, coalitions and networks at international level.
    • Demonstrated experience developing and managing effective partnerships with government and civil society organisations as well as resource mobilization in the sustainable financing, climate change adaptation and mitigation, transition financing etc will be essential.
    • Established knowledge prowess through publications in op-ed, peer-review journals, newsletters and blogs among others.

    Skills & Competencies

    The candidate should demonstrate: -

    • Leadership and problem-solving abilities.
    • Strong understanding of global climate landscape, including policies, actors and instruments (UNFCCC mechanisms, initiatives supported by national and state government etc).
    • Knowledge and experience of UNFCCC COP and emerging issues pertaining to climate change and India’s positioning on it will be an advantage.
    • Strong analytical and research skills.
    • Excellent communication and networking abilities.
    • Good working knowledge of MS Office (Knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and online tools for collaboration.
    • Working proficiency in English and Hindi language
