Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya flags off the journey from Lucknow to Delhi.
This Independence Day, India celebrated the transformative power of women's institutions, by honoring Lakhpati Didis at the Red Fort as part of the celebrations. Among them were three remarkable women entrepreneurs from Uttar Pradesh - Nirmala, Shashibala, and Santoshi - who stood as living examples of the national vision.
These women are part of a movement that is reshaping rural economies, where diversified enterprises are enabling incomes of over one lakh per year and building pathways for systemic change.
Their journey from Lucknow to Delhi, flagged off by the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya, symbolised much more than travel. It was a passage from personal struggles to national recognition, carrying with them the voices and aspirations of thousands of women entrepreneurs across Uttar Pradesh. Their representation reflected the power of community institutions - particularly Cluster Level Federations (CLFs) that serve as engines of finance, market access, and solidarity for women-led enterprises.
Their participation at the Red Fort underscored a systemic shift in how entrepreneurship is being built and sustained in rural India. Through initiatives like the Suksham Udhyam Sakhi, 13,064 Sakhis will provide technical support to over 6.5 lakh women across Uttar Pradesh, ensuring that stories like Shashibala’s, Nirmala’s, and Santoshi’s are no longer rare, but the beginning of a new norm.
This Independence Day was a reminder, how women lead enterprises transform not just their own lives, but the systems around them, charting a new economic future for rural India.
Women-led enterprises take center stage. Nirmala, Shashibala, and Santoshi stand tall at India’s 79th Independence Day ceremony.
